Privacy Policy
Last updated October 31, 2026.
Wallflower is a mahjong app. This page says what it collects, who handles it, and how to get rid of it. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
What we collect
- Account details. If you make an account: your email address (or the private relay address Apple gives us), and a username you pick so friends can add you. Nobody can look you up by email.
- Your name at the table. The display name you enter, shown to the people you play with.
- Cards. The hands from the cards you add, stored in your account and visible only to you. When you deal a game, the players at that table get a sealed copy for that game.
- Game and group data. Tables you join, moves, scores, and group membership, so games and weekly scores work.
- Device details. A random token that identifies your device at a table, and a push notification token if you turn notifications on.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, technical details go to Sentry. We turn off IP addresses, emails and other personal data in these reports.
Photos of your card
When you photograph a card, the text is read on your phone. The photo isn't uploaded. If a line can't be read with confidence, the app asks before sending only a small crop of that line to Anthropic's Claude to help read it. If your phone can't read cards on-device, the app asks before sending the whole photo. Anthropic doesn't train its models on data sent this way. Cropped images aren't kept after the line is read.
Who handles your data
- Convex: database and servers.
- Resend: sends sign-in code emails.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, push notifications.
- Anthropic: card reading, only as described above.
- Sentry: crash reports.
- Expo: app updates and push delivery.
These providers process data for us and only for these purposes.
Tracking
Wallflower doesn't track you across other apps or websites, and has no advertising or analytics SDKs.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account until you delete it. In the app, open Your cards and tap Delete account. That removes your account, your cards and your group memberships right away. If you can't get into the app, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and we'll do it for you. Scores from past games may stay in other players' group history under the name you played as.
Children
Wallflower isn't made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
